Polarization photovoltaic effect is a unique character for an energy material with specific in-plane anisotropy. Especially if the energy material has a direct bandgap close to 1.6 eV, it will efficiently absorb full sunlight spectrum with specific axial polarizations. In this study, we present polarization-resolved optical transmission, thermoreflectance spectroscopy, and first-principles GW+BSE calculations of optical response in high quality stripe-like group IV monochalcogenides which is a potential candidate forapplication in polarization sensitive photodetector and polarized solar cell. Additionally, the dimensional effects on quasiparticle band gap, excitons, anisotropic optical absorption spectrum, and the interlayer coupling are studied by comparing our GW+BSE calculations of few-layer and bulk-like flakes of group IV monochalcogenides.[1]
